The Long's Strange Trippers, back in the good 'ole U.S. of A.

It's hard to believe it, but we're home, safe and sound.  The final installment covering the last weeks in Bali, plus our stopover in San Francisco, is now available.  In addition, we've got never before seen footage of our Welcome Home! party in Atlanta.  Click here for all the latest!

Welcome to the official web site of the Long Sabbatical 2000!  It represents the fulfillment of a dream that's been a year in the making for both of us.  We hope that those who stop by for a visit leave with several things:

• An understanding of who we are and what made us decide to spend a year circumnavigating the globe
• Some information on how we prepared for the trip
• The latest on where we are, what we're doing, and who we're meeting
• Some information that might help you in planning your own adventures
• A lasting image of the people and places we've seen
• A different view of the world

Starting in February of 2000, we'll leave our home in Atlanta and head out for parts unknown (well, somewhat unknown.  We know basically where we're going, but plans are always subject to change!).  We hope to be awed by incredible natural beauty and changed by the culture and history of places and people.   We want to get to know ourselves, each other, and friends along the way.  In an effort to keep those at home updated with news of our adventure, we've enlisted the help of that ubiquitous tool that we don't know how we ever lived without, the World Wide Web.  We'll be updating the site as we travel in Journal 2000, so we invite you to sit back, read along, and experience the world from our perspective.
